where's the steamed bun
Went to try out the Nanxiang Steamed Bun at Parco Bugis Junction yesterday. The first impression was bad: the manager just casually pointed us to a free table. Uh huh~? We looked at the menu, hmm... quite a short list (look on the good side, you don't have to consider much). We read from the newspaper that it is famous for its xiaolongbao 小笼包... but where is the steamed bun 馒头 as appeared in the name? Err... tricky, Nanxiang Steamed Bun doesn't sell steamed bun. Have you seen chicken rice stall doesn't sell chicken rice?
There is something wrong with the management, as pointed by my brother. Why do they need ALL their waitresses to clear one table and let the rest of the customers unattended? The waiting time for billing was super long, cos there was only one cashier and they key in/place their new orders at that same terminal as well.
Overall, disappointment. Generally the xiaolongbao was a bit tasteless. Should go back to Crystal Jade Lamien Xiaolongbao or even Ding Tai Fung. (btw the top photo shows the original Nanxiang in Shanghai)
