fairy air force

Just finished watching the 5-episode anime Fairy Air Force (Sentou Yousei Yukikaze 战斗妖精雪风). It is a super duper abstract sci fi based on the 1984 fiction 『戦闘妖精・雪風』by 神林長平. If you like Macross, you may like FAF. For me, I only like the air combat scenes. Enough of a reason for me to watch it.

So the story is about an air war between Fairy Air Force and JAM (don't ask me why not peanut butter) JAM is some organism from outer space while Fairy Air Force is made up of earthlings. So there is this fighter jet called Yukikaze in FAF, whose AI is able to communicate with the pilot Lt. Yukai. blah blah blah... Like all Japanese anime, the war ended.

The aerial combat scenes are simply fantastic! I read that the production team actually received assistance from the Japan Air Self Defence Force! Some of the jet designs are quite cool too~ Oh they were trying to portrait some right wing thinking too, as you will see Japan has an aircraft carrier in the anime -_-"

Minus the abstract storyline, I may like it more.
