invisible zebra-crossing, invisible pedestrian, blind driver

Yihao and I were halfway crossing the zebra-crossing outside AS2 when a white Mercedes came speeding towards us. In annoyance I showed the car my (index) finger pointing down at the zebra-crossing markings and you know what happened? The Merz stopped right on the zebra crossing and an old man stuck his head out, muttered something like "must look before crossing the road"...

What the *beep*! It was like we could see it speeding towards us 50 metres away lor! What mean must look before crossing? Was his driving license issued when Singapore was known as Syonan-to? (Temasek is a bit exaggerating)

But Yihao was right, I wouldn't use my body to stop it. I'm not as brave as the student at Tiananmen Square.

  • The old man was totally in the wrong, he shouldnt even be speeding in the campus. But, what he said is right, you have to look before you leap. White stripes on the road cant stop a speeding car and I doubt your body stop the car either.

  • there is a reason why I am still alive, cos I looked!

to clarify a bit, I didn't stand in its path to stop it.

  • HONK HONK!! KNN!!! u.. never look..
well.. not all "old" drivers are good drivers..

although the roads in sydney are slightly more dangerous than in singapore.. cuz of the car modifications and stuff like tat.. but i think singaporean drivers are one of the worst drivers in the world.. totally no respect for others on the road..

here.. the drivers are always vv courteous one..

  • As a person who also drives now and then, I conclude the old man:

1). Rushing to meet his mistress for a quick session
2). Rushing to meet his wife after meeting his mistress for a quick session
3). Rushing to avoid the ERP
4). Rushing to get more Viagra
5). Rushing to enjoy more of his already short life paying for the Merc
    6). Blind

Choose any, but it doesn't matter, what's more important is that the bugger must be a complete retard, if not he needs a new pair of specs, you know old pple, Lao Hua Yan

Should feel better now, I always feel better when I belittle pple i dislike.

    :)

  • erm.. bless your enemy. kill them with kindness.

the most du lan part is when he stopped right on the zebra crossing... the point is I really stopped there waiting for it to stop lor, not like I racing with him to cross first..

  • Actually, its just a courtesy for drivers to stop for pedestrians and NOT a must.

A must is like the left filter (can't remember if there's a zebra crossing there too) at queensway shopping centre where they place a mini-traffic light.

So pedestrians need to make sure the car is stopping for them before crossing.

This may be something you guys like to know.

  • no leh, I have the "Basic Theory of Driving" in front of me, says pedestrians have priority when crossing and the vehicle should slow down leh...

oh no, we have a reckless female driver on BMW here!!

  • Yah but it's not a law that they enforce strictly.

Just be aware that not all drivers will slow down for pedestrians at zebra crossing.

Coz we know who is always at the losing end if both parties clash together.

  • that is quite true.

like I said, I won't use my body to test lor.

kind of sick to know that some drivers know who is at the disadvantage and still exploit it.
